Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has finally addressed the fake news controversy surrounding her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. At a press conference for her upcoming movie, Ponniyin Selvan 2, the actress spoke out against the harmful effects of spreading false content, calling it “unnecessary and insensitive”. She expressed her hope that the media would not perpetuate such news.
During the press conference, Aishwarya was asked about the impact of irrelevant news that emotionally and sentimentally affects people. The actress acknowledged that such news does exist and thanked the media for recognizing its negative impact. She appreciated their support for the sentiment shared by everyone and their wisdom in recognizing the need to avoid encouraging and perpetuating false and insensitive writing.
For those who may not be aware, Aaradhya Bachchan had recently taken legal action against a YouTube tabloid that had reported fake news about her health. The Delhi High Court subsequently acted against nine YouTube channels that had shared false content about Aaradhya’s health and Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as parents. The court banned the nine channels from sharing such content and granted interim relief to Aaradhya and Abhishek, stating that the facts make out a clear prima facie case in favor of the plaintiff.
Aishwarya’s upcoming film, PS2, is directed by Mani Ratnam and is set to release on April 28. The movie also stars Chiyaan Vikram, Jayaram Ravi, and Karthi in pivotal roles.
