Superman Legacy is one of the most highly anticipated superhero films of the year, and fans are eagerly waiting to see who will replace Henry Cavill and Amy Adams in the roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Director James Gunn has reportedly shortlisted the top contenders for the roles, and the speculation around who will eventually play these iconic characters is at an all-time high. In this article, we will take a closer look at the top contenders for these roles and discuss their chances of landing the coveted parts.
David Corenswet – The Top Contender for Superman
According to the latest reports, David Corenswet is the top contender for the role of Superman in Superman Legacy. The actor, who is best known for his role in Pearl, is said to have impressed the filmmakers with his audition and is set to go for the screen test for the part after Memorial Day or early June, this year. Corenswet’s chiselled good looks and acting chops make him an excellent fit for the role of Superman, and if he manages to nail the screen test, he could well be the next Man of Steel.
Other Contenders for Superman
While David Corenswet is the top contender for the role of Superman, two other famous young actors are also being considered for the iconic role. However, their names are yet to be disclosed. It has been confirmed that Jacob Elordi, the Euphoria actor who was earlier rumoured to be shortlisted for the role, was never considered for the part.
Who Will Play Lois Lane?
Along with Superman, the role of Lois Lane is also set to get a new face in Superman Legacy. Four actresses are being considered for the part – Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving. Mackey, who shot to fame with her role in Sex Education, has been a fan favourite for the part, while Brosnahan, who won an Emmy for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is another strong contender. Dynevor, who gained widespread acclaim for her role in Bridgerton, and Weaving, who starred in Scream VI, are also being considered for the part.
James Gunn’s Vision for Superman and Lois Lane
James Gunn intends to showcase the characters of Superman and Lois Lane as younger, compared to the Man Of Steel series. He wants to cast actors in their mid-twenties, and the next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but is also an alien. “It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug,” said Gunn in a recent interview with Variety. If everything goes according to plan, a major announcement on the finalised star cast of Superman Legacy is expected to be out by the second half of 2023, mostly in August or September.
Superman Legacy – The Reimagined Origin Story
Superman Legacy is a reimagined version of the much-loved superhero’s origin story, and the film promises to be a fresh take on the character.
